Family history told to me by my mother recounts that the only son of William Snell (Stanley) died of typhoid fever at the age of 14, while away at school. Hence there were no successors in William's immediate family to the Wayton House property, which then passed to William Snell, Stanley's cousin.
1881 Cenus records the following inhabitants of boy's school in Plymouth, of which Stanley is a pupil at the time.
